Committee Overview
The CRMCA Technical Committee unites industry professionals to promote technical excellence, enhance concrete quality, and support operational advancements. By administering ACI certifications, overseeing the CTAC program, and working closely with CDOT, the committee provides critical resources, training, and feedback to improve testing procedures, material specifications, and production processes. The committee’s efforts empower CRMCA members to meet rigorous standards, contribute to infrastructure projects, and drive innovation across Colorado’s concrete industry.
Key Initiatives
- ACI Certification Programs: Partner with the American Concrete Institute to administer certifications such as Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1, Concrete Strength Testing Technician, and Concrete Transportation Construction Inspector, ensuring proficiency in concrete testing and inspection for transportation projects.
- Concrete Testing Adherence Collaboration (CTAC): Lead the CTAC program, initiated in 2015, to improve concrete testing consistency through ACI standards, offering evaluations, reports, and updated tools like questionnaires and mobile apps to enhance technician performance and laboratory practices.
- Collaboration with CDOT: Work closely with CDOT to provide member input on material testing, specification development, and updates to standards like Class DF concrete and the Approved Products List (APL), ensuring alignment with Colorado’s infrastructure needs.
- Technical Education & Resources: Develop and distribute training materials, compliance guides, and technical resources tailored to concrete producers and technicians, fostering knowledge-sharing and adherence to industry best practices.
- Innovation & Best Practice Sharing: Facilitate peer discussions among producers, engineers, and technicians to exchange innovative solutions, such as advancements in mix designs and testing methods, to elevate quality and efficiency across the industry.
