Hello CRMCA Members. As we are now in the grips of winter with the snow this week, the construction sector is having to deal with all the issues that come with it. As you well know, this has a huge impact on the ready-mix industry with not only placement and finishing, but also down to equipment operating and safety. We successfully deal with it every year, and this is no exception.
Election Outcomes and Issues. One thing I personally will not miss is the continuous adds for political candidates. Whether the candidates and issues you voted for won or lost, I am glad it is behind us. On the state level, we will again work to educate those in legislature on the importance of our industry on the economic growth around the state. Our lobbyist, Totsy Rees has sent a full election outcome article. It provides the facts known to date on the election. Please review and reach out if you have any questions.
One of the key challenges facing our industry is balancing the need for materials with environmental. As we now deal with EPD’s and GWP of our products, it forces us to take a different perspective regarding concrete and cement. There has been some discussion regarding another “Buy Clean” bill in the 2025 legislative session. In case this moves forward, we have already had several meetings with those in the State Senate, to ensure we are communicating clear and focused message telling our perspective. These will pay off in the long run as the quickly changing environment shifts.
One of the items we are communicating at the US level is how the CTAC testing monitoring program can assist in lowering GWP. In a recent presentation from Dr. Karthik Obla with NRMCA, up to 11 percent of concrete overdesign is due directly to testing issues. If we can use CYAC to improve testing, we all win. Contact JT Mesite for more information on CTAC.
Annual Conference. Make sure you register for the Annual Conference on Nov 21 & 22 at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. We are only 2 weeks away! We have a full event planned that includes sessions on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Economic Forecasts, Mine permitting challenges, Concrete technical advancements, and great opportunities for networking with suppliers and industry professionals. You won’t want to miss out on the learning opportunities from this event. Hope to see you there.
Reach out to any of us at the CRMCA office if you have questions or items that need assistance. Thank you.
