Hello CRMCA members. Here are a few highlights and happenings at your trade association.
- Recent and upcoming activities.
- The recent Summer Conference was a huge success. On July 18 & 19 we traveled to the historic Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs, joining our partners at the Colorado Stone, Sand & Gravel Association for this annual event. This event combines a great balance of work and recreation as we spent Thursday afternoon reviewing and updating our Strategic Plans, setting future direction that is critical to our industry. Then on Friday, members and guests took to the golf course to shank golf balls into the canyons of the Ironbridge Golf Course. Some missed the canyons and stayed on the fairway, but not many from my observations! Thanks to all who participated in and sponsored the Summer Conference.
- Also, the Concrete Truck Driver Championship was held on August 17 at the Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood. A lot of skills on display and a lot of work by our great volunteers. Thanks to JT Mesite for all his efforts and making this another success! Congratulations to our Colorado state winners including:
- 1st place Cody Bush Holcim US
- 2nd place Al Aiello BURNCO Colorado
- 3rd place Talon Bow Holcim US
- Team award BURNCO Colorado
- Then upcoming on Sept 23rd, we are taking a group of elected officials on a quarry and ready-mix plant tour. Our lobbyist Totsy Rees is organizing, and I look forward to interacting and helping to educate this group on the importance of our industry.
- The next day, On Sept 24 we have a Networking Event at the Bristol Brewing Company in Colorado Springs. It is important to move these around the state as we continue to strive to be present across the entire state. Sign up and plan to attend this free event for not only members, but also prospective members. Bring someone you think might be interested.
- Also, take advantage of the networking opportunities of the Clay Shoot, which is on Oct 16. The registration info on the website.
- Lastly, the Annual Conference is again at the Broadmoor Hotel on Nov 21 and 22. Get signed up early and often, as registration is open now!
- CONCRETE PAC: It’s not too late to get involved in the upcoming election process. If you haven’t, please consider contributing to the CONCRETE PAC, and even the ROCK PAC. Companies or individuals can contribute up to $725. each to these PAC’s. This is extremely important, and I strongly encourage your participation and investment in the future of Colorado!
- Networking: We held a very successful West Slope Networking Event in Grand Junction on June 18. Many members turned out for this great summer event. Thanks to Sean Mello at Western Slope Materials for sponsoring!
- Also, while not a CRMCA event, we are pleased the NRMCA ConcreteWorks will be held right here in Colorado: Hopefully many are planning to attend the event on Oct 10-14. NRMCA are great partners and I encourage all to participate. We also will have a both provided by NRMCA to display and help build interest for out Concrete Testing Adherence Collaboration (CTAC). Come by the booth and visit with JT about the program.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our association and industry. Please reach out to one of our team members, Emma, JT, Megan, or myself if you have questions or comments. Thanks to all.
