As we find ourselves mid-year already, and in the midst of the busy construction season, the CRMCA is also bustling with energy and activity.

The Board of Directors continues to meet monthly and is currently working on the strategic plan, as well as with committee chairs to further define their missions.

Our governmental affairs committee is gearing up to affect change in the upcoming elections.  We will be involved in key races to help return common sense and support of our industry to the legislature.  Please take a moment to contribute to the CRMCA PAC fund.  This will greatly increase our effectiveness leading up to the November vote.

The Technical Education committee has rolled out the new Pre-Construction Checklist.  This document is a key component in helping our industry avoid unnecessary costs due to improper field testing and the lack of construction site responsibilities.  I encourage every member to make this document mandatory literature in every pre-construction meeting.  The Technical Education committee will provide support and education to members in regards to this great tool.

Our marketing committees are focusing on member participation and education.  Recently, the Central/Northern Marketing committee conducted a seminar called, “A Day at the Concrete Jobsite.”  Over 100 people from municipalities in and around the Metro area and Northern Colorado attended the seminar.  They covered such topics as site preparation, testing procedures, and placing & finishing.  The Southern Marketing committee is conducting a “Test Fest” event on June 9th.  This event is designed to provide introspection in regards to field testing accuracies.  The Western Marketing committee held a successful demonstration on fast track concrete which was attended by over 50 people.  They are looking at expanding this program statewide.  The ACI training & certification program continues to provide classes across the state.  The program is expanding at a record pace.

These committees are successful due to the hard work and perseverance of our members.  I want to thank everyone involved with our association from our staff, to our producer members, and to our non-producer members.  It is member participation that allows the CRMCA to thrive.
