2015 Fourth Quarter Market Committee Blog

Wow! Even during the busy season in our industry, the committee members continue to find time to keep events going on within the Association. All the groups are working diligently on current projects/seminars in addition to planning for 2016. We have had a busy year and will continue to be busy for the remainder of the year! Thank you to all our committee members and chairs for your continued support of the Association and the industry.

If you haven’t been able to participate in our Market Committees, we are encouraging you to stop by. The October meetings are scheduled to primarily be planning sessions for 2016 and we need your input! Please contact either me or any one of the chairs or co-chairs for additional information.

Southern Market (Colorado Springs to NM Border)

Chair – Joe Griego, Pete Lien & Sons/Trans-Colorado Concrete

Co-Chair – Ken Bontrager, CEMEX

Dave Evan, TCC, Robert Lozan, BASF, Tom Pelo, BASF, and Joe Griego, TCC and Southern Market Chair, played at the Jay Martin Memorial Golf Tournament at the Eisenhower Golf Course in Colorado Springs.

The Southern Market group during the 3^rd quarter reviewed goals for the remainder of the year and successfully executed the Jay Martin Memorial Golf Tournament. We had a diverse group of players and had the great opportunity to be there with a fly-over. We would like to thank our sponsors, Transit Mix Concrete and Holcim (US) Inc. We would also like to thank the CRMCA Board members that were able to attend and the members who brought their customers to show what CRMCA is all about. View photos from the event.

The next meeting will be in Colorado Springs on October 22^nd at Valley-Hi Golf Course.

Western Market Committee (Western Slope Wyoming to New Mexico Border)

Chair – Nate Thomas, Everist Materials

Co-Chair – Dana Jenick, Holcim (US), Inc.

The Western Market was extremely busy during the month of July with the Test Fest in Frisco, CO and an ACI Field 1 Certification at CDOT’s facility at the tunnel. View photos from the ACI Field I Certification and the July 15 Test Fest– be sure to read the full Test Fest Report!

During the 4^th quarter, the group will be planning for the events that will be taking place in Durango on December 9^th and 10^th. The group will be holding a Test Fest on December 9^th and “A Day at the Concrete Jobsite” on December 10^th. The group is also working on 2016 goals and objectives. We would like to thank CDOT in Durango for providing the facilities for these events.

The next meeting will be in Grand Junction on November 4^th at Elam Construction.

Central Market Region (Castle Rock to Wyoming Border)

Chair – Dana Rotkovich, Bestway Concrete

Co-Chair – Kirk Johnson, Mountain Cement

The Central Market Committee has continued to be busy during the 3^rd quarter!

The main focus for the group during the 3^rd quarter has been planning for the October 6^th Seminar, Protecting Your Concrete: Cure and Seals. The group met with a roundtable of municipalities to get more feedback on what they want to learn about Cure and Seals. The meeting was successful and we currently have 91 people registered for tomorrow’s seminar. We would like to thank our current sponsors for the event as we would not have been able to do this without you!

In addition to the 2016 goals, the group will hold a seminar on the pre-construction checklist, for municipalities, on November 3^rd at the CRMCA Offices.

The next meeting will be in Centennial, at the CRMCA Offices, on October 8^th.

Thank you again to our members for their commitment, time, and support of the association and the industry. The year will be finishing off strong and I am excited to plan for 2016!
