CRMCA proudly participated in the USGBC Green Schools Workshop and Summit held in Arvada on November 7th and 8th. As the Executive Director at the Colorado Ready Mix Association (CRMCA); and in conjunction with National Ready Mix Concrete Association (NRMCA) we are excited about our initiative called Build With Strength to specifically educate and promote newer methods of building envelope construction using Insulated Concrete Forms or ICF’s.
ICF’s can build faster than traditional methods of school construction and provide a far better long-term return on investment to all stakeholders and taxpayers. We have proven school construction projects throughout the country and within Colorado that can demonstrate the actual school utility cost savings over time, as well providing less noise transference from outside or within the school, along with a safer more durable and resilient building.
By utilizing concrete along with the ICF building envelope, we are able to achieve a net zero energy consumption school. Here is a link to a short 2-minute video of a school in Kentucky that describes such a building that typically receives an annual check for $30,000 from their utility provider. We do understand that not all projects can be net zero energy consumption, however we can make them more efficient, resilient and sustainable while saving money. If you have a project in its early design life, we offer a free, no cost design review model that can provide you with better options vs typical construction methods.
Please contact CRMCA to schedule an appointment with our team and learn more about ICF.
