Hello CRMCA members and those involved in the concrete industry.  It is already Memorial Day, can you believe that?   Here is a brief update of happenings at CRMCA.

First of all, I want to that all the volunteers who helped make the “Concrete Day at the Capitol” BBQ a huge success.  This event is held in conjunction with the Portland Cement Association, the American Concrete Pipe Association, and the American Concrete Pavement

Association.  While it was scheduled for April 29th, we decided no one wanted to cook or eat burgers in the rain and snow, so we switched to May 5th.  With 75 degree temperatures, we again had over 500 attendees, many of who were either elected officials, or their key staff members. View photos today!

Additionally, members of these same associations met with Governor Hickenlooper in late April to discuss the need for infrastructure funding sources and the benefits of constructing with concrete.  The meeting was a success to help communicate these initiatives.

CRMCA, along with the entire Colorado Construction Industry Coalition (CCIC) has been hard at work with the Transportation Funding Initiative. The CCIC has taken a leadership role in finding new ways to fund infrastructure, both with elected officials and considering ballot measures for the November 2016 election.  After much deliberation, this group strongly feels the 2018 timeline works to our favor, thus avoiding the presidential election and an already overcrowded ballot.  We will continue our efforts in working with CDOT to improve congestion and safety on our roadways.

In other news, Annelise continues to make progress regarding social media.  In the coming months, there will be several training sessions to learn more about how to use and ways you and your company can benefit from the use of it.  Please watch for this information and be sure to connect with us on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

Don’t forget to register for the CRMCA Summer Conference in Steamboat Springs on July 28 & 29.  This is a great time to learn more about CRMCA, network with industry leaders, and enjoy various parts of our beautiful state.  Hope to see you there.

Lastly, I believe membership is aware Stacy Ehrlick has left CRMCA to pursue other interests in concrete related fields.  She has been a great asset to CRMCA, as well as ACI and the entire concrete industry.  We wish her all the best!!!

I hope everyone has a safe month of June.  Please contact Annelise or me with any comments or questions.
