October 2015 President’s Blog

Hello CRMCA members. With the weather cooling down, things are heating up at the association as we prepare for the final quarter of the year.  The CRMCA staff and committees have been hard at work taking the testing standards program national, looking ahead to 2016, and planning the upcoming Annual Conference. I also encourage you to read Stacy Ehrlick’s Fourth Quarter Market Committee Blog for additional updates.

Our Executive Director, Todd Ohlheiser, continues to promote the testing standards adherence program on the national level. Todd presented on CRMCA’s program at the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s ConcreteWorks Conference in San Antonio, TX this September. His promotion of our program at the national level has garnered attention from other state associations, and last month Todd gave a webinar presentation to the Virginia Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s board of directors. We are confident that our program will help pave the way for industry wide change.

This month the board will review the preliminary 2016 budget, the budget will then be officially approved during the November board meeting. CRMCA uses the budgeting process to be sure your association continues to align with the mission set forth in our strategic plan. I look forward to discussing the association’s accomplishments and direction during my presentation at the Annual Conference.

CRMCA’s Annual Conference will take place November 19 – 20, 2015 at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. I am looking forward to the second annual conference with the Colorado Stone, Sand & Gravel Association! This year’s event promises to bring in new and exciting speakers, discussing everything from National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s current marketing strategies to transportation infrastructure funding in Colorado. View the detailed agenda and be sure to register by October 9 to receive early bird pricing. I also encourage you to complete the application process for the awards section of the conference. These include the Grassroots Awards, Rodman C. Stuart Annual Safety Leadership Award, and the new Safety Innovation Awards.

Tune in through Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn for up-to-date association news. Thank you for your continued support of the Colorado Ready Mixed Concrete Association!
