June 2016 President’s Blog

Hello CRMCA members,

crmca-presidents-blog

Clockwise: ACI Field I Certification at CDOT, Denver on June 22; Oldcastle SW Group employees Pete Siegmund, Denis Osborn, Kyle Alpha, and Rich Umbel at the CSSGA Summer Golf Tournament; Stacy Ehrlick, Bestway Concrete, traing Stevie Harris, CRMCA, on ACI policies and procedures; Todd Ohlheiser, CRMCA/CSSGA, attends the RMACI’s Golf Tournament; Abbott Lawrence, Martin Marietta, leads the Adherence Workshop on June 9.

Welcome to this month’s blog. I hope you and your company had an excellent June and are looking forward to 4th of July celebrations next weekend! Below you will find details on association happenings including a welcome of CRMCA’s new employee, Stevie Harris, the Testing Standards Adherence Program, and the 2016 Summer Conference.

As many of you are aware Stevie Harris joined the CRMCA as Program Administrator early this June. Stevie will be managing the American Concrete Institute (ACI) certifications program and working closely with the Regional Market and Technical Committees. Prior to this role, she spent several years in association management for the real estate industry in Fort Collins. I look forward to her bringing expertise and experience in certification management to the new role as CRMCA continues to expand and improve the ACI Program. Feel free to reach out and welcome her aboard at stevie@coloradocaa.org!

On June 9 CRMCA held an Adherence Program Workshop to assess the current state of the CRMCA Adherence Program and determine the final outcome for a technological product. Producer member representatives from Aggregate Industries, Bestway Concrete, Cemex, Martin Marietta, Transit Mix Concrete, and United Companies along with lab member representatives from A. G. Wassenaar, Cesare, Inc., CTL Thompson, and Kumar & Associates attended the meeting. This program has made great progress with attendees agreeing that more consistent testing further improves the industry. The workshop attendees recommended that CRMCA staff pursue improvements to the current system allowing both producers and labs easy access to reports and company specific metrics while continuing to preserve proprietary information. The board of directors plans to review specific strategies and proposals over the coming months.

Lastly, I encourage all members to register for the 2016 Summer Conference in Steamboat Springs. This is a great opportunity to network with industry leaders in a relaxed setting. Regular registration prices end on July 15.

Have a fun and safe holiday!
